Blog #7: Do Barbies Affect Children Growing Up?

Most girl children have there first memorable toy.  For most of them, it is a Barbie doll; but do Barbie dolls have a negative affect on these children?  At first, Barbies seemed like a good role model, but now Barbie is very unbelievably skinny and some have babies.  I feel that this makes girls believe that they should be skinny.  They look at these Barbies and want to be like them.  The Barbies are very stereotypical; they are blonde with blue eyes and are extremely skinny.  Also, Barbies with babies tend to have no fathers attached with them which can lead young girls to believe it is perfectly right and normal to have a child at a very young age without a husband or the help of a man at least.  Barbies seem like a good toy for a child, but they can leave the wrong impression on girls at a very young age before they should even be close to getting into the stereotype of life.
