Blog #1: Stereotypes of Women
In the recently debuted movie Black Swan, Natalie Portman plays the lead actress Nina. Nina is a very excellent ballerina dancer and finally receives the chance to play the starring role in the new and improved Swan Lake. Throughout the film, Nina finds herself pushing and pushing herself to be what the world and the entertainment people believe to be "perfect" as a ballerina. To become this icon of a ballerina, Nina pushes herself to extreme levels, as viewers see it, and drives herself to insanity. The stereotype that the world has put on ballerinas brings upon Nina her early and untimely death. Stereotypes all over the world cause wrong views to be shed on women as well as all other people in the world. Nina was just one case of a drastic occurrence of the effect of these stereotypes.
